Suvival of the Friendliest: Small Bytes this Autumn

  • Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 1218 W ADDISON ST CHICAGO United States (map)

Biblical literalists and adherents to evolutionary science have at least one thing in common: belief that all human beings have a common origin. In two sessions, we will explore Survival of the Friendliest: Understanding Our Origins and Rediscovering Our Common Humanity, a recent book by Duke University evolutionary anthropologist Brian Hare with Vanessa Woods. The book explores their theory of how early Homo sapiens domesticated themselves, thus leaping ahead to become the only surviving human species and to be wildly successful technologically. They also explain how and why we get divided into warring camps, even in shared communities.
