Ben is leading the planning team for an upcoming virtual town hall where you can join folks from around Cook County and elected leaders to discuss our vision for a sustainable and safe recovery from COVID-19. We will cast a vision that continues to build off the success we have had decarcerating Cook County Jail to just over 4,000 inmates (down from 5,500) as well as how we can move our electeds to re-allocate criminal justice funds to support investments in our communities - especially communities of color impacted by violence and incarceration - like accessible health care, mental health services, good schools, jobs, opportunities in the green economy, and affordable housing.
