Michelle Sevig, Pastor
Pastor Michelle L. Sevig grew up in Anoka, Minnesota a suburb of Minneapolis. She received her B.E.S., with an emphasis in Special Education and Elementary Education, from St. Cloud State University.
She was very active in her church as a youth and young adult and felt a call to ministry while in high school. Three days after graduating from college she began seminary at Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Michelle's internship was with an urban congregation in Jersey City, New Jersey and her first call in 1994 was to a rural congregation in Volga, South Dakota.
In 1996 she moved to Chicago with her partner, and since then has served as Interim Pastor in three different congregations and Director for Women in Leadership and Ministry for the ELCA.
She began working as a part-time pastor at Holy Trinity in 1999, with an emphasis in Children and Family Ministry. Currently she also works as a pediatric on-call chaplain for Advocate Children’s Hospital.
Michelle and her wife, Julie Sevig, have three children--Peder, Oliver and Annika. Together they enjoy living in the Edgewater neighborhood and value the "small town" feel of knowing their neighbors, shopping at local stores and eating in neighborhood restaurants
