Holy Trinity seeks a Nursery Attendant to serve primarily on weekends at HTLakeview (1218 W Addison St.) Holy Trinity is a vibrant, progressive, urban congregation in two sites: HTLakeview is three blocks from Wrigley Field in the Lakeview neighborhood, and HTLoop is in Printer’s Row in the South Loop neighborhood. JOB DESCRIPTION

Childcare provider for infants through age four while parents are in worship.
Reports to Pastor Michelle Sevig  

PHILOSOPHY

Our children are our greatest asset and are to be treated as a treasure.  The qualified candidate for this position will be able to relate well to our children, be kind and fair, and communicate a welcoming attitude to all.  The relationship established with parents needs to engender confidence and competency of care.  The environment in the playroom should be warm, fun, and still have enough order for children and parents to feel safe. 

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Relate well to children, being kind and fair. 

  • Relate well to parents and inform them of concerns or questions immediately.

  • Establish a relationship with parents to engender confidence and competency of care. 

  • Welcome parents and children, obtaining relevant information regarding specific needs, utilizing the standardized form.

  • Release children only to authorized adults.

  • Maintain the nursery space with moderate cleaning, tidying, and organizing of space. 

  • If there is a need for a diaper change, or a bathroom break, text the parent and have them return to the nursery to provide toileting care for their own children. 

  • Engage children at the appropriate age level individually and as a group.

  • Organize planned activities for portions of the hour to encourage quiet play.

  • Never leave children unattended in the space at any time.

  • Document attendance of children and note new visitors. 

  • Be prepared to implement an emergency evacuation plan if needed.

  • Report any suspected child abuse to Pastor Michelle Sevig and the appropriate authorities. 

  • Become familiar with, sign and follow the HTLC Child Safety Policy. 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma

  • Two years of childcare experience, preferably in group settings and with infants and toddlers. Verification required.

  • Satisfactory references required (2); professional preferred.

  • Basic understanding of good hygiene and hand-cleaning techniques.

  • Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and able to produce an up-to-date vaccination card. 

  • Capable of working well with other childcare providers and volunteers

  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.

  • Signed statement acknowledging the individual’s status as a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse and neglect.

  • Have no current affiliation with HTLC or its members.

  • CPR/First Aid certified. If not by the start date, completion of certification within one month of employment.


TERMS of EMPLOYMENT

  • Scheduled hours:  Sundays from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  

  • Special occasions, other evenings, and Saturday mornings as requested. 

  • Reports to and is supervised by Pastor Michelle Sevig.

  • Pay to be determined based on experience.
